School-Parent Compact
What is a School-Parent Compact?
A school-parent compact is a written agreement between school staff and families, which when done well, provides an opportunity to strengthen partnerships within the school community. It explains how families and schools can work together to help students reach high academic standards.
Jointly Developed
The school-parent compact is jointly developed with parents for all children served. A school-parent compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high standards.
Building Partnerships
An effective parent and family engagement program requires a partnership among key stakeholders. Healthy partnerships exist when all parties support one another in the achievement or attainment of a common goal. Successful partnerships build upon and enhance the capacity of both staff and families.
